Auburn loses 2023 commit after firing Bryan Harsin

The fallout was swift from Auburn’s awaited dismissal of head football coach Bryan Harsin. Gernorris Wilson, a 2023 offensive lineman, decommitted on Monday afternoon.

“Due to the current circumstances I’ve decided to decommit from Auburn University. My recruitment is 1000% back open,” Wilson tweeted.

The Florida three-star from Lakeland High chose the Tigers on Sept. 19. He was one of two high schoolers who committed to the Plains and helped ease the horrid Penn State loss in September. His visit to the Plains came with a slick video edited with a Jay-Z song that Wilson posted upon his announcement.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder had 17 offers, including Georgia Tech, Oregon and North Carolina. Wilson was one of three offensive linemen in the class, joining Auburn High’s Bradyn Joiner and Carrollwood (Fla.) Day’s Clay Wedin. The Tigers’ class ranks 49th per 247Sports team composite and 14th in the Southeastern Conference.

Wilson is the second prospect to decommit from Auburn this cycle. Central-Phenix City receiver Karmello English reopened his recruitment last month.
