A 41-year-old Scottsboro man was critically injured and later died after a Friday afternoon single-vehicle crash in Jackson County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as Ever Noe Vella-Fuentes.

The wreck happened at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Alabama 79 near Dale Street, about 10 miles south of Scottsboro, Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey announced in a news release.

Vella-Fuentes was driving a 2004 Honda Civic when it left the roadway, hit a ditch and overturned. He was ejected from the vehicle, Bailey said.

Vella-Fuentes was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing by troopers.
