7 kilos of cocaine found hidden in Igloo cooler during traffic stop on Alabama interstate

A traffic stop on an Alabama interstate led to the seizure of 7 kilograms of cocaine found hidden inside a cooler.

The 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force – which covers multiple west Alabama counties – made the bust Wednesday night.

Task force Commander Clint Sumlin said investigators stopped a 2019 GMC Terrain on Interstate 20/59 near the Eutaw exit for a traffic violation.

They learned the 36-year-old driver was traveling from Roma, Texas to New York.

He gave officers consent to search the SUV, where they found wrapped kilos hidden in the liner of an Igloo cooler.  The 7 kilos, Sumlin said, have a combined wholesale value $210,000.

Rolando Garza was arrested on a charge of trafficking cocaine. He is being held in the Greene County Jail.
