Etowah football coach placed on administrative leave

Etowah High head football coach Matt Glover has been placed on administrative leave by Attalla City Schools.

Superintendent Jeff Colegrove confirmed the news Thursday morning.

In a brief statement to AL.com, Colegrove said Blake Bone would serve as the interim football coach.

“He will be responsible for all aspects of the football program until further notice,” Colegrove’s statement read.

Glover is 8-6 in his second season with the Blue Devils. He’s also been head coach at Moody (2006-2008), Pinson Valley (2009-2016) and St. Clair County (2017-2018).

Etowah is 0-2 so far this year with losses to Springville (28-21) and Fort Payne (54-27). The Blue Devils open Class 4A, Region 6 play at Ashville on Friday night.

No reason was given for the move.
