As NFL season kicks off, where are Auburn’s players?

Thirty-seven former Auburn players are on NFL rosters as the league prepares to kick off its 104th season on Thursday night.

Twenty-seven of the former Tigers are on one of the NFL’s 53-player active rosters, making them eligible for action on the first weekend of the 2023 season.

Another eight are on practice squads and could be elevated to active status before their games.

Two of the Auburn alumni are on season-ending injured reserve.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have the most former Auburn players with four. The Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the most Auburn alumni on their active rosters with three apiece.

By position, Auburn has seven defensive backs, six defensive linemen, six linebackers, five offensive linemen, four wide receivers, two kickers, two quarterbacks, two tight ends, one snapper, one punter and one running back on NFL rosters.

Ten of the players are rookies – five on active rosters, four on practice squads and one on injured reserve.

During the NFL’s 2022 campaign, 26 former Auburn players appeared in regular-season games. That was the fewest since 2013, a drop of six players from 2021 and a continued decline from the program high of 36 reached in 2016.
