Huntsville capital murder suspect nabbed in Anniston by federal task force, authorities say
The man sought on capital murder charges in the slayings of two women last week in Huntsville was captured Wednesday by a federal task force in Anniston, police said.
The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Tye’ Deshun Stevens, 23, on Wednesday afternoon, said Huntsville police spokeswoman Sydney Martin.
Stevens is expected to be brought to the Madison County jail, where he will be booked on two capital murder warrants in the Aug. 29 killings of D’Asia Monique Morris, 24, and Sequoiya Mone’e Lamar, 20,
The victims were found shot on Bonnell Drive that morning.
Shemeika King, the mother of Sequoiya Lamar, called her daughter “not only a vibrant, caring young woman but also a source of joy and inspiration for those around her.”
King made her comments on a GoFundMe page set up by the family for funeral expenses.
“The loss of my daughter has left a deep void in our lives,” King wrote. “Her sudden departure has shocked us and left us grappling with grief that is beyond comprehension.”
King called D’Asia Morris, Lamar’s roommate, “an innocent soul who shared the same tragic fate.”
“We are infinitely grateful for the outpouring of love and support offered by our community thus far. The calls, visits, and messages have provided us with consolation during these dark times,” King said.
