State trooper chase in central Alabama ends in crash; Georgia man facing DUI, other charges
Two people were injured when a chase involving Alabama State Troopers ended in a crash in central Alabama Wednesday morning.
Just before 9:30 a.m., a trooper stopped the driver of a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup for speeding while on U.S. 331 near the Highland Home area in Crenshaw County, said Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett.
During the stop, the drive fled the scene and a chase ensued until the Ford crashed on U.S. 331 in Montgomery County.
Both the driver and a passenger were injured, Burkett said. They were taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
Burkett identified the driver as Russell E. Boner, 47, of Columbus, Ga. The passenger is identified as 47-year-old Tammie Hartz-Mullin, also from Georgia.
Once Boner has been released from the hospital, he will be taken to the Crenshaw County Jail on active felony warrants out of Georgia, as well as Alabama charges of attempted to elude, resisting arrest, DUI and other traffic violations.
