South Alabama stocks see big losses
The start of a shortened trading week Tuesday was not kind to most of the stocks on our Mobile and Alabama Stock Report as all but three took losses and 12 saw drops of at least 2%.
Enviva took the biggest hit, dropping 8.6%.
Community Health Systems was next, falling 5.6%.
Mobile-based Computer Programs and Systems shed 4.8%, falling to a 52-week low of $15.47. The three gainers: Honda (2%), Toyota (1.6%) and U.S. Steel (.5%).
Overall, major stock indexes on Wall Street closed lower Tuesday, giving back some of their recent gains as traders returned from a long holiday weekend.
The S&P 500 fell 0.4%, while the Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1%. Both indexes were coming off their second weekly gain. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.6%.
