Former West Alabama standout Tyreek Hill has been selected for the Pro Bowl in all six of his previous NFL seasons. Those were spent with the Kansas City Chiefs. In his first season with the Miami Dolphins, the wide receiver is looking like a lock to earn the all-star accolade again.

In Miami’s 31-27 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Hill caught 12 passes for 188 yards.

Hill had his fourth game this season with more than 160 receiving yards. All the other players in the NFL combined have four.

By boosting his 2022 production to 961 receiving yards on 69 receptions, Hill holds the NFL lead with a total that is the third-highest for receiving yards eight games into a season in the league’s Super Bowl era. The St. Louis Rams’ Torry Holt had 978 receiving yards eight games into the 2003 season, and the Indianapolis Colts’ Marvin Harrison had 962 in 2000.

With his fourth game of 2022 that included at least 10 receptions and 150 receiving yards, Hill tied Tim Brown, Calvin Johnson, Jerry Rice and Antonio Brown for the most such games in a single season in NFL history.

Hill has nine 10/150 games in his career. Only four players have more in league history – Rice, Brown, Andre Johnson and former Alabama standout Julio Jones, with 10 apiece.

Hill was among the 39 players from Alabama high schools and colleges (excluding Alabama and Auburn) who got on the field on the eighth Sunday of the NFL’s 103rd season.

Three other former state players were involved in the Mami-Detroit game:

· Dolphins outside linebacker Trey Flowers (Columbia) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Dolphins running back LaMical Perine (Theodore) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Lions guard Logan Stenberg (James Clemens) played but did not record any stats.

In the other Sunday games:

Denver Broncos 21, Jacksonville Jaguars 17

· Josh Allen (Abbeville) started a weakside linebacker for the Jaguars. Allen made two tackles and registered a quarterback hit.

· Jaguars tight end Gerrit Prince (UAB) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Jaguars defensive end/outside linebacker Jordan Smith (UAB) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Broncos punter Corliss Waitman (South Alabama) averaged 51.2 yards on six punts, with a 47.0-yard net. Waitman had a 54-yard punt for a fair catch at the Jacksonville 27-yard line, a 49-yarder for a fair catch at the Jacksonville 19, a 49-yarder returned for no gain at the Jacksonville 27, a 51-yarder returned 9 yards to the Jacksonville 39, a 54-yarder returned 6 yards to the Jacksonville 29 and a 50-yarder returned 10 yards to the Denver 47.

· Broncos wide receiver Montrell Washington (Samford) caught a 1-yard pass, returned four punts for 22 yards and ran back a kickoff 20 yards.

· Darious Williams (UAB) started at cornerback for the Jaguars. Williams made three tackles and broke up a pass.

· Jaguars center Darryl Williams (Bessemer City) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

Atlanta Falcons 37, Carolina Panthers 34 (OT)

· Panthers running back Spencer Brown (Mortimer Jordan, UAB) ran for 27 yards on six carries. Carolina elevated Brown from its practice squad to make him eligible for Sunday’s game, and he carried the ball in an NFL regular-season contest for the first time. Brown appeared in one game as a rookie in 2021, but he played only special teams.

· Panthers cornerback Tae Hayes (Decatur) played but did not record any stats.

Dallas Cowboys 49, Chicago Bears 29

· Khari Blasingame (Buckhorn) started at fullback for the Bears.

· Bears wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. (Saraland) caught a 5-yard pass, ran twice for 33 yards and returned a kickoff 22 yards.

· Darnell Mooney (Gadsden City) started at wide receiver for the Bears. Mooney had five receptions for 70 yards.

· Nicholas Morrow (Huntsville) started at linebacker for the Bears. Morrow made five tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage.

· Jalen Tolbert (McGill-Toolen, South Alabama) started at wide receiver for the Cowboys. Tolbert did not record any stats in his first NFL start.

· Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams (Lee-Montgomery) was designated as a game-day inactive. A knee injury sidelined the rookie.

Minnesota Vikings 34, Arizona Cardinals 26

· Cardinals center Rodney Hudson (B.C. Rain) was designated as a game-day inactive. A knee injury sidelined Hudson for the fourth game in a row.

· Cardinals cornerback Christian Matthew (Samford) was designated as a game-day inactive. A hamstring injury prevented Matthew from practicing last week.

· Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens (Spain Park) dressed for the game but did not play.

· Cardinals offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons (Selma) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Za’Darius Smith (Greenville) started at outside linebacker for the Vikings. Smith made seven tackles, recorded three sacks, registered four tackles for loss and broke up one pass. Smith has 8.5 sacks this season. Smith became the sixth player this season to make three sacks in one game. Smith’s final sack on Sunday came with Arizona at the Minnesota 37-yard line, and he dropped Cardinals QB Kyler Murray for a 7-yard loss with 10 seconds left in the game.

New Orleans Saints 24, Las Vegas Raiders 0

· Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (Homewood) caught four passes for 28 yards, returned a kickoff 20 yards and made one tackle on special teams.

· Raiders defensive tackle Neil Farrell Jr. (Murphy) made three tackles.

· Saints running back Jordan Howard (Gardendale, UAB) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Saints quarterback Jameis Winston (Hueytown) dressed for the game but did not play. Winston started the first three games of the season for New Orleans before being sidelined by back and ankle injuries. Winston was a full participant in practice last week, but the Saints decided to stick with Andy Dalton as the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game.

New England Patriots 22, New York Jets 17

· Kwon Alexander (Oxford) started at linebacker for the Jets. Alexander made six tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage.

· Jets defensive end Bryce Huff (St. Paul’s Episcopal) broke up a pass.

· Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones (Enterprise, Troy) made one tackle and returned two punts for 32 yards – one for zero yards and one for 32. The longer return gave New England possession at the New York 27-yard line and set up a third-quarter field goal.

· Quincy Williams (Wenonah) started at linebacker for the Jets. Williams made seven tackles and recorded two tackles for loss.

Philadelphia Eagles 35, Pittsburgh Steelers 13

· Eagles safety Reed Blankenship (West Limestone) was designated as a game-day inactive.

· James Bradberry (Pleasant Grove, Samford) started at cornerback for the Eagles. Bradberry made three tackles and broke up one pass.

· George Pickens (Hoover) started at wide receiver for the Steelers. Pickens was targeted three times but did not have a reception.

· Steelers outside linebacker Malik Reed (Dothan) made four tackles, recorded one sack and broke up one pass. Reed’s sack was his first of the season.

· Steelers offensive lineman Trent Scott (Lee-Huntsville) played but did not record any stats.

· Quez Watkins (Athens) started at wide receiver for the Eagles. Watkins was targeted once but did not have a reception.

Tennessee Titans 17, Houston Texans 10

· Texans defensive end Mario Addison (Tarrant, Troy) played but did not record any stats.

· Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (Clay-Chalkville) was designated as a game-day inactive. A groin injury prevented Collins from practicing last week.

· Zach Cunningham (Pinson Valley) started at inside linebacker for the Titans. Cunningham made four tackles as he returned after missing the previous three games.

· Tytus Howard (Monroe County, Alabama State) started at right offensive tackle for the Texans.

· Ben Jones (Bibb County) started at center for the Titans.

· Titans linebacker Monty Rice (James Clemens) played but did not record any stats.

· Texans cornerback Tremon Smith (Saks) returned two kickoffs for 39 yards. Smith also caused a fumble on a punt return that Houston recovered at the Tennessee 42-yard line in the first quarter.

Washington Commanders 17, Indianapolis Colts 16

· Bobby McCain (Oxford) started at free safety for the Commanders. McCain tied for the team lead with eight tackles.

· Commanders running back J.D. McKissic (Central-Phenix City) gained 6 yards on two rushing attempts and caught three passes for 14 yards.

· Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves (South Alabama) played but did not record any stats.

San Francisco 49ers 31, Los Angeles Rams 14

· Rams offensive tackle Chandler Brewer (Florence) played but did not record any stats. Los Angeles elevated Brewer from its practice squad to make him eligible to play on Sunday.

· Forty-Niners tight end Jordan Matthews (Madison Academy) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Jimmie Ward (Davidson) started at free safety for the 49ers. Ward made five tackles.

Seattle Seahawks 27, New York Giants 13

· Offensive tackle Korey Cunningham (Montevallo) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Giants cornerback Cordale Flott (Saraland) was designated as a game-day inactive. He missed a fifth consecutive game because of a calf injury.

· Mike Jackson (Spain Park) started at left cornerback for the Seahawks. Jackson led Seattle with seven tackles and broke up three passes. Both stats are career highs. Jackson had two six-tackle games this season, and he broke up two passes in a 51-29 victory over the Detroit Lions on Jan. 2.

· Giants defensive lineman Nick Williams (Minor, Samford) made one tackle and registered one quarterback hit.

Buffalo Bills 27, Green Bay Packers 17

· Packers wide receiver Kawaan Baker (South Alabama) is on the practice squad and is not eligible to play.

· Bills cornerback Siran Neal (Eufaula, Jacksonville State) made two tackles on special teams.

Week 8 started on Thursday night, when the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27-22.

Week 8 concludes on Monday, when the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns square off at 7:15 p.m. CDT at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes will televise the game.
