Georgia football hit with another arrest for reckless driving, speeding
The Georgia football program was hit with another moving violation over the weekend when coaching staff member Jarvis Jones was arrested on charges of reckless driving and speeding.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours before the Bulldogs’ season opener.
Jones, a former All-American linebacker at Georgia who played four seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was arrested Friday night on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and speeding.
He was released on $2,400 bond.
“There will be internal discipline,” Smart said when asked about the arrest on Tuesday. “It’s a personnel matter, and I can’t comment further on it.”
Georgia, in search of its third straight CFP national championship, defeated UT Martin 48-7 on Saturday.
There have been reports of at least a dozen Bulldogs charged with moving violations since the team won the championship in January.
In July, defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins and outside linebacker Samuel M’Pemba were cited for speeding. On Jan. 15, the night of Georgia’s championship celebration, offensive lineman Devin Willock and staff member Chandler LeCroy were killed in a car wreck in which police alleged that former defensive lineman Jalen Carter was racing them.
