Here are five local stories you might have missed in the Lede last week

Last week, the Birmingham Lede covered parking, and towing, and gave you more insight into the first of many elected officials. And a lot more. Here are just five examples of what you missed if you didn’t read the Lede last week:

· In our Sunday Q&A Daniel Christiansen talked about how his Birmingham-based grassroots organization is pushing to make cities more livable.

· In her ongoing series of towing horror stories from downtown Birmingham, the Lede’s Heather Gann reported on a healthcare worker who called for the city to take action after what she called “the worst experience she’s ever had.”

· Gann also found that there’s a higher percentage of land devoted to parking in the Birmingham metro than many other places in the country, raising the question of whether some of that land is being wasted.

· Last week marked the debut of the Lede College Football Picks contest. If you’re a fan, check it out.

· Gann got an interview with Jefferson County Commissioner Sheila Tyson who talked about development in her part of the largest metro in the state.

There’s a lot more in every issue of the daily Lede. And each edition has a page designed to tell you how to navigate The Lede. It even has a cool YouTube video.

The Lede is a work in progress, and we’re making it better every day. We want to hear from you. Suggestions? Constructive criticism? Stories you’d like to see? Questions about your community? Something for us to look into that will make your life better? Send me a note at [email protected].
