How many tornadoes hit south Alabama on Saturday?
Southwest Alabama was hit by tornado warning after tornado warning on Saturday as a string of rotating storms rolled onshore from the Gulf of Mexico.
The National Weather Service in Mobile got reports from social media, storm spotters and first responders who saw twisters on the ground in parts of Mobile and Baldwin counties.
The question is, how many tornadoes were there?
The weather service will begin investigating today. Storm survey teams are out in the field looking at storm damage and will determine whether it was caused by tornadoes or thunderstorm wind gusts.
If a tornado is confirmed the weather service will use the damage it caused to assign it a rating using the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which spans from EF-0 to EF-5.
So far no injuries have been reported from the storms.
The weather service will release more information from the storm surveys later today.
