Alabama man convicted of murder as juvenile skips court on rape charge

An Alabama man convicted of murder as a juvenile failed to appear in court Monday to answer a rape charge, leading a Houston County judge to issue a warrant for his arrest and list him as a fugitive.

Ralph Coleman, 22, of Dothan, missed his Monday court date before Houston County Judge Kevin Moulton, reported WDHN.

Coleman, who was convicted as a juvenile for a 2016 homicide in Dothan, allegedly raped a 19-year-old woman at a Dothan motel in April 2022, the network reported.

Coleman was released on the murder charge when he was 21 years old.

The Dothan man also ran from the law when police sought to arrest him shortly after the rape.

He was arrested in Florida in May before being brought back to Houston County to face the charge.

Anyone with knowledge of Coleman’s whereabouts was urged to call authorities.
