Trio charged in robbery of 2 victims in Birmingham

Three men are in jail, accused of an armed robbery last week in south Birmingham.

Police on Monday announced the arrests of Muhammad Crenshaw, 32, of Birmingham, Erick Whetstone, 21, of Birmingham and Keontae Taylor, 22, of West Blocton.

The trio is charged with two counts each of first-degree robbery.

Authorities said the suspects robbed two victims Aug. 17 while in the 400 block of Gamma Street.

Photos of the suspects were released, and police said tips from the community helped lead to their identities and subsequent arrests.

All three men were booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Friday night and remain held on $10,000 bond.
