AU commit Perry Thompson shows versatility in Foley victory
Auburn 5-star wide receiver commit Perry Thompson threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the Lions rolled past Class 7A No. 10 Prattville 45-19 on Friday night in Foley.
Thompson, who flipped his longstanding commitment to Alabama to rival Auburn during Big Cat Weekend, threw a 33-yard TD pass to get the Lions going early.
He finished with four receptions for 20 yards and two rushes for 21 yards and a score.
Thompson had to share the limelight with fellow senior Kolton Nero. He rushed for 288 yards and 3 TDS on 19 carries for Foley (1-0).
Sophomore QB Nelson Thompson was 10-of-15 for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Juniors Cooper Hermecz and Shaborn Oakes each had a TD reception.
The win was Foley’s first over Prattville since 2013 and just their second in nine attempts. Prattville won 34-20 a year ago.
