US Marshals arrest suspects in 2 separate Mobile murder cases in 1 Mississippi city

Two suspects wanted in connection with Mobile murder cases in June were both apprehended in Moss Point, Miss., U.S. Marshals and the Mobile Police Department announced Friday.

Devanta Hall, 22, and a 17-year-old juvenile were taken into custody Friday at different locations within Moss Point, a Mississippi coast community just north of Pascagoula.

Hall is accused of murder and two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle during an incident at a Pride Gas Station on St. Stephens Road in Mobile on June 18.

Marshals had obtained information suggesting Hall was at a residence on Larimore Street in Moss Point. Task force agents went to the home and were able to take Hall into custody without incident.

The juvenile, meanwhile, was wanted for his involvement in a June 20 murder at the Spanish Oaks Inn on Spanish Trail Drive in Mobile.

Marshals tracked the 17-year-old to a residence on Dubose Avenue in Moss Point. When agents arrived, the occupants of the residents refused to open the door and agents made forced entry into the house.

Several individuals were inside, along with multiple firearms — one of which was reported stolen through the Jackson County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Office. Along with the juvenile murder suspect, 24-year-old Lavon Finley was discovered to have an active warrant for failure to appear in Jackson County. Both were transported to the Moss Point Police Department for processing.

Marshals say additional charges related to the weapons are pending.

The task force was assisted in locating the suspects with information provided by Mobile investigators. In addition, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Moss Point Police Department assisted in the arrests.
