6 arrested, gambling machines seized in Decatur investigation
Decatur police Thursday arrested six people and seized several gambling devices at five locations.
It’s the second large scale investigation into gambling in the area this year. In June, police arrested seven people and seized about 50 gambling machines.
According to police, investigators executed search warrants at buildings in the 1200 block of 21st Avenue S.W., and at a residence in the 1300 block of Alpine Street S.E.
Police said officers seized “numerous” gambling devices, firearms, distribution quantities of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash.
Keithan Tarrell Swoopes is being held on a $60,000 bond in the Morgan County Jail. He faces firearms charges, first degree marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was out on bond on firearms charges and promoting gambling, police said.
Five other people were taken into custody on misdemeanor gambling charges.
