EWTN invites TV viewers to BJCC for live show

EWTN Global Catholic Network has invited its TV viewers from across the country to Birmingham for a day of “family celebration” at the BJCC Concert Hall on Saturday.

It’s the annual celebration of the network’s founding in August of 1981, when Mother Angelica launched the network in a garage at her Irondale monastery. It has since become the largest religious TV network in the world, with bureaus in Rome and Washington, D.C., and West Coast studio space in Anaheim next to Disneyland, while the headquarters remains in Alabama.

Visitors to Alabama are first invited to events today at the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, including a discussion of Mother Angelica’s legacy at 10:15 a.m.

On Saturday, the focus will shift to the stage at the BJCC Concert Hall, where a lineup of EWTN hosts will be doing presentations throughout the day.

It begins with a welcome at 9:30 a.m. from EWTN CEO Michael Warsaw. The full schedule is posted here.

At 3:30 p.m., there will be a live show hosted by the Rev. Mitch Pacwa, the priest who took over hosting the former “Mother Angelica Live” show. He’ll be joined by Johnnette Williams and other EWTN hosts.
