Eater picks the 15 best restaurants in Tuscaloosa: Do you agree?

Tuscaloosa’s restaurant scene doesn’t get enough love, but one list recently did its part to shine a light on 15 of the city’s best.

Eater.com shared “The 15 Best Restaurants in Tuscaloosa, Home to the University of Alabama” in August, highlighting a blend of traditional hits, new spots and a few unexpected choices you’ll have to try if you haven’t.

“Meat-and-three combos surrounded by Bama paraphernalia, a decades-old barbecue icon for ribs and pulled pork, a neon-lit vegan cafe serving smoothies and bowls, and more of Title Town’s best meals,” writer Jen Bowman says in her description of the piece.

Before sharing the picks, the Pennsylvania-born and Nashville-based blogger says “A diverse culinary scene is growing alongside the town itself, powered by Southern hospitality and the mutual support of a unique arts and entertainment scene.

The list includes heavy-hitters like Nick’s Original Filet House, City Cafe, The Waysider and Archibald & Woodrow’s BBQ.

It also has a few relatively new spots like Dillard’s Chophouse, Fuku Ramen, The Veganish Market and Forte Cuts and Cocktails (inside The Alamite hotel, co-owned by Nick Saban).

Other picks include Heritage House, The Houndstooth (noting the popular bar’s takeout operation) and Innisfree Pub. It also has Alabama fan favorite, Rama Jama’s, which is located right across the street from Bryant-Denny Stadium and is often a go-to for out-of-towners soaking up everything Crimson Tide football.

Bowman’s picks are as good as anyone’s. It’s her opinion, and she makes some great cases. About The Waysider: “Although the interior draws customers in, they stick around for Waysider’s signature soft, buttery biscuits and the meat-and-three combos. The Waysider is a must-try for anyone who calls themself a Crimson Tide fan.”

So what do you think? What would you include on your list of the Druid City’s best restaurant?
