National Cinema Day 2023: Major theater chains offering $4 tickets for 1 day only

If you’ve been wanting to catch the latest Hollywood blockbuster or quirky independent film, Sunday is the time.

The Cinema Foundation is teaming with major theater chains across the country for the second annual National Cinema Day on Sunday, Aug. 27. According to organizers, more than 3,000 theater locations across the U.S. will be offering tickets that day for $4 or less.

Regal, AMC and Cinemark are all participating in the promotion and some are offering discounts on concessions as well.

According to Eduardo Acuna, CEO of Cineworld Group, parent company of Regal, last year’s National Cinema Day brought more than 8.1 million visitors to movie theaters across the country, setting the single-day attendance record for 2022.

In its statement, Regal said it is expanding its show schedule to add more screenings of top movies such as “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “Elemental,” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.” The expanded hours include midnight showings on Sunday at select locations.
