Deion Sanders on suitors: ‘I’d be a fool and a liar to tell you I wouldn’t entertain those things’
Deion Sanders said Saturday he would entertain offers from other schools if they called on him.
Sanders, who appeared on ESPN’s “College GameDay” prior to his Jackson State’s game with Southern, was asked how he plans to handle overtures from other programs.
“First, I have stay focused,” Sanders said. “I have to maximize these moments and continue to dominate those moments. When we cross that hurdle, we’ll cross that hurdle. I’d be a fool and a liar to tell you I wouldn’t entertain those things because I am. But I have made no plans to move. Have made no plans to go anywhere. I have made plans to dominate today.”
Auburn and Georgia Tech are just a couple of the programs mentioned as places that should take a shot at the former Florida State star.
In fact, former Auburn star and Heisman Trophy winner Bo Jackson was recently asked about the idea of Sanders stalking the sidelines on The Plains.
“Deion could coach anywhere in the country — college or professional level — that he wants to,” Jackson said in an interview with USA Today. “It’s just whether or not the organization is ready for Prime. You can look at what he’s done for Jackson State in the short amount of time he’s been there. He has the charisma. He has what it takes because Deion, like myself, we were coached old-school and that’s the way he’s coaching his players. You’re seeing the results.”
Under Sanders, Jackson State went 4-3 in his first year, 11-2 last season and the Tigers are off to a 7-0 start this season.
