Extreme heat or no extreme heat, the 2023 AHSAA high school football season officially kicks off tonight.

Triple-digit temperatures have pushed kickoffs back for some games tonight and Friday, but all games are still scheduled to be played.

Tonight’s key games include Bob Jones at Muscle Shoals, Albertville at Arab, Fairhope at Spanish Fort, Daphne at Murphy, St. Michael at Gulf Shores and Vestavia Hills at Class 6A runner-up Mountain Brook.

The two-night AHSAA Kickoff Classic also opens in Montgomery with Beauregard playing Selma at Cramton Bowl. That is one of the games affected by the heat. That game will kick off at 8 p.m. instead of the normal 7 p.m.
