On Wednesday afternoon, the Cowboys said the NFL team was gathering information while monitoring the situation. Williams practiced with the team on Tuesday.

The controlled substance charge is for alleged possession of THC, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. That charge is a felony. The weapons charge is a misdemeanor.

The former Alabama prep star is preparing for his second season with Dallas. The Cowboys chose Williams from Ole Miss in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, Williams was on the field for 273 defensive snaps and 245 special-teams plays in 15 games. He made four tackles, recorded four sacks and registered 10 tackles for loss in 2022.

Williams had an encounter with law enforcement in December after a traffic accident in Plano, Texas, when he was cited for reckless driving.
