Mobile residents try to sell camera back to store from where it was stolen, police say
According to Mobile police, officers responded to Calagaz Photo on Springdale Boulevard Tuesday afternoon to find a man and woman there, attempting to sell a camera to the store for cash.
One problem: not only had the camera been reported stolen, it was stolen from Calagaz Photo.
Officers learned the two suspects had obtained the camera from an “acquaintance” and then brought it back to the camera store. Naturally, Calagaz Photo wasn’t interested in paying to get their own camera back. Instead, they called police.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and is in Mobile Metro Jail under $1,000 bond. She has three prior arrests, all for theft, according to the jail docket.
A 36-year-old man was not only charged with receiving stolen property, but during his arrest officers found drugs in his possession, so he is also charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and probation revocation. He is ineligible to post bond and will remain in jail.
