Police investigating separate shootings Wednesday morning in Birmingham

Birmingham police are investigating two unrelated shootings Wednesday morning.

In one of the shootings, an officer was flagged down just after 9:30 a.m. The shooting happened in the 1000 block of Second Avenue North.

The adult male victim was taken to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspects are in custody.

In the second shooting, which happened about the same time, the male victim showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Investigators believe the shooting happened in Baby Kingston.

According to police radio communications, officers were still trying to find the scene. A possible suspect and witnesses were being questioned.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the shootings were not linked.
