21-year-old found slain in Midfield field
A 21-year-old man was found dead in a field in Midfield and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
Police on Wednesday identified the victim as Aaron Maxwell. He lived in Midfield.
Officers on Monday received multiple calls about 10 p.m. on reports of shots fired near Rayfield Drive. It appears nothing was found at that time.
About 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. Michael Jeffries, the department received a 911 call about a body discovered in tall grass in the 1400 block of Woodward Road.
They arrived at that location to find Maxwell dead.
Jeffries said it appeared Maxell had been shot. They are awaiting confirmation from an autopsy.
Maxwell is Midfield’s fourth homicide this year.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 124 homicides including the four in Midfield.
