Many of the highest paying jobs in Mobile are in the healthcare industry, similar to Alabama’s other large cities.

Physicians, cardiologists and anesthesiologists were the three highest paying positions in the Mobile Metro Area in 2022, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And seven of the top 10 are in the medical field.

There wasn’t specific wage data available for median hourly income for the top three positions, but each earned more than $115 per hour, or $239,000 per year. Those were the only positions in the top 10 that saw a median hourly pay above $100.

Family medicine doctors were fourth on the list in Mobile, earning a median hourly wage of $98.57. That means half of all people in that field made more.

Dentists, nurse practitioners and pharmacists also made the top 10, with a trio of non-healthcare fields squeezing their way in. Architectural and engineering managers (No. 7, $65.18 per hour), chief executives (No. 8, $65.03) and computer and information systems managers (No. 10, $61.68) rounded out the list.
