One person is dead following a shooting Sunday afternoon in Dothan.

WTVY is reporting the incident happened in the 800 block of South Appletree Street, near downtown.

Just about 5 p.m., police were called to a firearm assault where one person was wounded in the head. The person later died at the scene, according to WDHN.

Neighbors said several people live in the “boarding house” where the shooting occurred.

Several people were taken into custody.
