Gunfire erupted at an Alabaster gas station Sunday, leaving one man wounded and another undergoing questioning.

The shooting happened at 12:20 p.m. at the Texaco on Industrial Road.

Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney said both men were parked at the gas pumps. What happened next is still to be determined, but multiple shots were fired.

The two men, the chief said, did not know each other.

The shooting victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then taken to UAB Hospital. He is listed in stable condition.

The person who fired the shots left the gas station and drove to the Alabaster Police Department.

That person, as well as several witnesses, are being interviewed by detectives.

A motive has yet to be determined.
