Man killed shot and killed in Tuscaloosa; suspect jailed

A shooting at an apartment complex in Tuscaloosa left one man dead, and a suspect is being held without bond.

Police responded to Camelot Apartments at 615 Black Bears Way on a shooting call. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Sherod Lanell Parris, according to a news release from Capt. Jack Kennedy, of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

The investigation led police to identify Charles Darron Richardson, 40, as the suspect, Kennedy said. He was arrested early Saturday morning by the Tuscaloosa County sheriff’s office with assistance from the Tuscaloosa police special response team and the U.S. Marshal’s fugitive task force. Richardson was charged with murder and a firearms charge as well as the outstanding charges.

He is being held without bond pursuant to Aniah’s Law, which allows police for people charged with violent crimes to be held in jail ahead of trial.

The shooting appears to have stemmed from an argument between the victim and the suspect, Kennedy said.
