Police trying to ID motorist who killed 42-year-old Birmingham woman in hit-and-run

Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver and vehicle in a deadly hit-and-run in Birmingham.

Tyesa Shawtae Smith, 42, was killed on July 4.

Birmingham police on Friday released a new picture of the suspect vehicle.

Smith, a mother of eight, was crossing the road in the 1500 block of Third Avenue West when she was struck by a vehicle that did not stop.

The crash happened at 11:44 p.m., and Smith was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:57 p.m.
