Ja Morant card triples in value after Sean, Leigh Ann Touhy found in background
A Ja Morant trading card from 2021 has gone viral this week after it was discovered that Sean and Leigh Ann Touhy, the couple who took Michael Oher, were in the background of the card.
According to Action Network, the card was already marketed with rapper Young Dolph, who died in 2021, and Key Glock, a rapper from Memphis, prominently displayed.
However, events in the last week have thrust the Tuohys into the spotlight and sent the price of the card through the roof.
Oher, the subject of the Oscar Award-winning movie “The Blind Side,” filed a petition Monday in Tennessee accusing the Tuohys of lying to him by having him sign papers making them his conservators. Oher, now 37, wants a full accounting of assets. He said he received nothing from the movie. The Tuohys have called the allegations ridiculous and part of a shakedown attempt.
A lawyer for the Tuohys said they want to end a conservatorship that he’s challenging in court. Lawyer Randall Fishman said Wednesday the couple intends to enter into a consent order to end the conservatorship.
According to the report, more than 100 of the cards sold, including ungraded cards for roughly $55. PSA 10s sold for as high as $550 each. According to data from Sports Card Investor, a PSA 10 could be had for just over $100 on July 31.
