$2 million commercial development coming to Ensley
Guster Development is planning a new project in Five Points West that should be occupied by the first part of next year.
Eric Guster, founder of Guster Law Firm and an area developer, is pumping $2 million into a multi-tenant development at 2250 Bessemer Road.
Guster Law Firm will be one of the tenants, along with VIPCare, a medical tenant serving those over the age of 60. Guster said there will also be another medical tenant to be announced later.
There is one vacant space remaining with 1,500 square feet for lease.
CCR Architecture & Interiors is the architect. Robert Pless of ServisFirst handled construction financing.
Guster bought the property in September 2020. The original building, a former Regions Bank location, had sat vacant for more than 12 years. Guster said the property was special because it was in his neighborhood.
“I’m a graduate of Ensley High School and wanted to give back to the community that made me who I am,” he said. “This project is near and dear to my heart. West Birmingham deserves this type of high quality development like Homewood, Greystone, and anywhere else and I’m delivering it.”
He said he wants to “develop something the community can be proud of.” He sought a design that would look at home anywhere – Mountain Brook, U.S. 280.
“I wanted to build a building that would look great in any zip code,” he said. “We are very picky on who the tenants are because we demand high level tenants who will enhance the area.”
