The stores of the new Pell City Square are gearing up to open over the next few months.

Old Navy has announced it will be opening on Aug. 26 at the new shopping center off Interstate 20.

Work began last year on the 135,000-square-foot shopping center on Dr. John Haynes Drive in Pell City.

Old Navy, part of Gap Inc., has begun planting new stores in smaller markets, with 25 new company-owned stores open last year, and about 21 planned for this year.

Pell City Mayor Bill Pruitt, in a Facebook post, announced projected openings for other stores:

Rack Room Shoes, Thursday.

Ulta Beauty, Sept. 29.

America’s Best Eyeglasses, Oct. 1.

Ross, Oct. 6.

Hobby Lobby and PetSmart, Oct. 15.
