Supporters of four Alabama universities can now show their school pride in new ways.

Specialty license plates for Samford University, University of Montevallo, The University of North Alabama and The University of West Alabama are now available.

Alabama redesigns specialty license plates every five years. But three other specialty tags – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Autism Acceptance and Huntsville Hospital – were also up for a refresh but opted to stay with their current design. Existing tag owners will receive new plates, however, with the updated numbering scheme and without decal pockets.

Specialty license plates generally cost an additional $50 that, in the case of the universities, mostly goes to scholarship funds.
