Remains found in Alabama ID’d as missing Georgia woman

Remains discovered Sunday in a wooded area of Lee County near the Russell County line have been identified as those of a Georgia woman reported missing late last month, authorities said Monday.

The remains, found in a wooded area of Lee County Road 170 in Salem, belong to Myshonique Shontrell Maddox, 28, of Columbus, Georgia, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Maddox was reported missing from Columbus on July 22.
