Isolated severe storms possible in north Alabama Sunday
More strong to severe storms will be possible in Alabama on Sunday, according to forecasters.
North Alabama will be the place to watch today. Widespread severe weather isn’t expected for the rest of the state.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center is forecasting a Level 1 out of 5 risk for part of north Alabama for Sunday. A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible.
A sliver of extreme north Alabama will be in a Level 2 risk today and could see a few more storms.
The strongest storms could bring damaging straight-line winds, hail, lightning and heavy rain. Tornadoes are not expected.
The most likely time for storms will again be this afternoon into tonight.
The National Weather Service will be watching for storms to develop in the heat of the day, but will also have eyes to the northwest, where a complex of storms could develop and move toward the region.
More isolated severe storms will also be possible on Monday for extreme north Alabama. Here is the outlook for Monday:
