Highs in the 70s? It’s possible this week in Alabama

Alabama was covered by heat warnings and advisories on Sunday, and highs are expected to climb well into the 90s — maybe even 100s in some spots.

The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, will make it feel even hotter, and precautions should be taken by those spending any time outside, according to the National Weather Service.

But a break is coming — at least for part of Alabama.

A front is expected to move in by Tuesday and take temperatures down — way down for those in north Alabama, according to weather service forecasts.

Highs on Tuesday may not even crack 80 degrees in some spots, according to the forecast. (See the forecast for Tuesday at the top of this post.)

More of Alabama will get a chance to feel a bit of relief on Wednesday, with more “cooler” temperatures expected across the northern part of the state.

Here is the forecast for Wednesday:

More of Alabama will cool off a bit on Wednesday.

South Alabama is going to get left out, however, and is forecast to stay in the 90s next week, according to the weather service.

The break won’t be all that long, however. The weather service is forecasting high temperatures to inch back upward by a few degrees by the end of next week. However, no triple digit highs are expected at this point.

What about the extended forecast?

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a good probability of above-average temperatures for Alabama through the end of the month.
