2 Mississippi men die in single-vehicle crash in Colbert County
Two Mississippi men were killed and one was injured early Saturday morning when the truck they were traveling in left the roadway and hit several trees in Colbert County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The deadly crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. on Alabama 247 about eight miles south of Cherokee.
Logan J. Humphries, 23, of Golden, Mississippi, was driving the 2014 GMC Sierra at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said in a news release.
Both passengers were injured and taken to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield for treatment. Alan V. Fernandez, 19, of Belmont, Mississippi, succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital. The condition of the other passenger was not released.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the fatal crash.
