Broiling hot in Alabama today; heat index may hit 117
All but two of Alabama’s 67 counties were under either an excessive heat warning or heat advisory on Saturday, and those oppressive conditions are likely to carry over into Sunday as well.
The National Weather Service is forecasting air temperatures to climb into the mid- to upper 90s today across the state.

Humidity levels will remain very high as well, and the combination of heat and humidity will make it hazardous for those exerting themselves outside for long periods of time.
Sunday could even be a degree or two hotter in some spots, and excessive heat warnings and watches were already in effect for much of the state.

* Heat advisory from noon until 8 p.m. Saturday for Cullman, Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan and Marshall counties.

CENTRAL ALABAMA
* Excessive heat warning from 10 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday for Lamar, Fayette, Walker, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Lee, Russell, Pike and Barbour counties.
Heat index values up to 113 are expected.
* Heat advisory from 10 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday for Marion, Winston, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, St. Clair, Clay, Randolph and Chambers counties.

SOUTH ALABAMA
* Excessive heat warning from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday for Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Escambia, Covington, Mobile and Baldwin counties.
Heat index values up to 115 are expected today.
* Excessive heat warning from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. CDT Saturday for Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties.
Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 117 are expected.
