Alabama special education teacher charged with sending obscene video to student

A Franklin County special education teacher turned himself into authorities this morning after authorities say he sent an explicit video to a 17-year-old.

Timothy Mark Wells, 36, of Phil Campbell, is being held without bond in the Franklin County Jail, according to jail records. He has been charged with distributing obscene material to a minor and school employee distributing obscene material.

WAAY is reporting that Wells, a special education teacher at Phil Campbell High School, admitted sending the video.

According to the sheriff’s office, a report was made Wednesday about the video, and investigators spoke to Wells later that day.

The Franklin County School System has placed Wells on administrative leave. There is no indication the charge involves a special education student.
