East Limestone beats winless Mae Jemison
Playoff-bound East Limestone capped a strong finish to its regular season by defeating Mae Jemison 45-6 on Thursday at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville.
Jake Cochran threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers – Fortune Wheeler, Roman Schrimsher and Alexander Mason – and Xavier Edwards added three rushing scores.
Wheeler also had an interception on defense for East Limestone, and Jan Stotz kicked a 26-yard field goal.
“We’ve got a sophomore quarterback (Cochran) and a freshman running back (Edwards),” East Limestone coach Clint Woodfin said. “First off, the future’s going to be bright. Both of these guys have stepped up in (their) roles.
“Jake came in and was the starter,” he continued. “X came in and started the first game and as we went forward he’s picked up what we’re doing offensively and has done an outstanding job of carrying the ball and did a great job tonight getting in the end zone.”
Jared Burroughs threw a 10-yard scoring pass to Gavin Jordan for the lone touchdown for the Jaguars (0-10). Mae Jemison has lost 12 straight games.
