Auburn men’s basketball to draw Notre Dame in opening game of 2023 Legends Classic
Auburn’s men’s basketball team is set to draw the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in its first matchup of the 2023 Legends Classic, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported Wednesday.
The non-conference matchup will be the first ever between Auburn and Notre Dame’s men’s basketball programs.
An official announcement is expected soon, Rothstein says.
The four-team event, which also features Oklahoma State and St. Bonaventure, is set to take over Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Nov. 16 and Nov. 17.
While the Tigers and Fighting Irish are set to square off against each other, Oklahoma State and St. Bonaventure will also see each other on Day 1.
Last season, Notre Dame struggled to find its bearings, finishing with a record of 11-21 and 3-17 in the ACC.
Meanwhile, Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl helped lead the Tigers to a 21-14 overall record and a 10-8 record in the SEC.
Wednesday afternoon’s report comes on the heels of the announcement that Auburn will be taking on UNC-Asheville on Dec. 13 at Huntsville’s Von Braun Center’s Propst Arena. The matchup against Bulldogs will be the Tigers’ first basketball game played from Huntsville in 20 years.
