Producer Albert Alarr exits ‘Days of Our Lives’ after groping, bullying accusations

“Days of Our Lives” co-executive producer Albert Alarr has exited the long-running soap opera after an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct, according to reports.

Series producer Janet Drucker will be promoted and replace him in his co-executive producer role, Deadline reported.

Alarr’s departure comes after a nine-week probe into claims that he had unfairly targeted women during the show’s March layoffs. He was also accused of frequently making inappropriate and offensive comments, bullying, intimidation, groping female cast members, and forcibly kissing an actress without her consent.

Producers initially decided to keep him on with a warning and an order him to undergo training, but the move triggered a petition signed by more than two dozen cast members demanding Alarr be booted form the Peacock show.

In a statement to Deadline, Alarr called the entire situation “heartbreaking” and described the allegations against him as “false.” He also blamed budget cuts as one of the reasons for his exit.

“It’s important to set the record straight,” he said. “Every day, I worked with hundreds of people, the overwhelming majority of whom would disagree with recent mischaracterizations of me. I have been in this industry for decades, and not a single complaint has ever been made against me until now.”

Alarr added that he “will always be proud of being the only Black director/producer in daytime soap operas” and wished those still working on the show well.

Series executive producer Ken Corday also used the announcement to reveal there will be “additional HR protocols, including an increased HR presence as well as channels for reporting any concerns. It is imperative that we have a safe and inclusive workplace environment.”
