UPDATE: Authorities said the body of the victim has been recovered.

EARLIER: A search is underway for a drowning victim in a Tuscaloosa lake.

Tuscaloosa police officers were called just before 5 p.m. to Lake Nicol. A group of friends said a man jumped in the water and did not resurface, said police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue and the Alabama Law Enforcement Marine Patrol Division are helping with the search.

As of 6:30 p.m., divers were still searching the water.
