Stock with Birmingham interest shoots up nearly 20%

Decliners overshadowed gainers again but two stocks soared Thursday on our Birmingham and Alabama Stock Report.

Community Health Systems jumped 78 cents, or 18.8%, to close the day at $4.92 a share.

The Franklin, Tennessee-based company has six locations in Alabama: Birmingham, Dothan, Enterprise, Foley, Gadsden and Huntsville.

WestRock picked up a nice gain, too, jumping 6.2%.

The corrugated packaging company is based in Atlanta. It is the second-largest American packaging company and has eight sites across the state, including Huntsville, Athens, Stevenson and Cullman in north Alabama, and Eutaw, Lanett, Demopolis and Montgomery in central Alabama.

Warrior Met Coal took the biggest dive, dropping 11.7%.
