Authorities are on the scene of a traffic fatality on Interstate 65 in Shelby County.

The crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. on I-65 southbound near the Shelby County airport exit.

Authorities said two vehicles were involved in the wreck. One victim was ejected from a vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

The right lane of the interstate is shut down.

Calera and Alabaster police are on the scene. Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene as well, and will take the lead in the investigation.
