An investigation is underway after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in Fairfield.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched just after 4 p.m. to an apartment building in the 6700 block of Forrest Drive. Callers alerted authorities to multiple shots fire and a person possibly shot.

A male victim was founded wounded. He was taken to UAB Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
