Man arrested for allegedly stealing vehicles from north Alabama dealerships
A Bessemer man is facing burglary and theft charges after authorities say he helped steal four vehicles from a north Alabama car dealership, Athens police said Wednesday.
Tywon Wyatt, 21, of Bessemer, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft of property after a truck, a car and two Polaris ATVs were stolen early Tuesday morning from Champion Dodge and Champion Chevrolet, police said.
Wyatt was stopped going southbound on I-65 near Exit 310, police said. The two ATVs were with him, according to authorities.
He was arrested and released on $10,000 bond.
Another driver involved in the burglary and theft fled on foot and remains at large.
Along with the ATVs, a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 TRX and a 2023 Dodge Challenger R/T were stolen.
The burglary was discovered around 4 a.m. by Athens police.
Surveillance footage and an inventory check concluded the vehicles were stolen.
