A suspect is in custody after a road-rage shooting on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa County.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday on I-59 near the Mercedes plant.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said the 30-year-old victim told investigators that he was driving when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and fired into his vehicle.

The victim was struck one time. His injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect after interviewing the victim and witnesses, Kennedy said. They located the vehicle and the suspect late Tuesday night, and recovered the gun used in the shooting.

Kennedy said the motive was road-rage.

Randarius Bevelle, 24, is charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and first-degree assault. He was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $60,000.
